Discounted Labs benefits
On Discounted Labs website people are free to choose among more than 50 lab tests. Most of those tests have descriptions, where information about what condition can be tested or detected with this test. In case of panels (several tests put together), a customer can learn from what tests are included and save some money by choosing a panel.
The company also has an informative blog on its website. In Discounted Labs blog patients may find articles related to lab tests, healthcare, health conditions, and medications. In addition to the blog, frequently asked questions page is also available on the site. It is easy to find answers to questions about the testing procedure, specimen collection, payment process and many others.
As the store provides people with direct-to-consumer services, there is no need in lab requisition from a physician to order a lab test. It allows saving time, since a patient may be waiting for the appointment with a physician about several weeks. During a common testing procedure, a patient needs to visit a doctor at least one more time to get and review lab test results.
With Discounted Labs services, a patient receives the results online. It means that there is no need to waste time and money for a subsequent visit. As Discounted Labs is HIPAA compliant, patient’s lab results, private and medical information are secured and protected.
On the top of savings from skipping doctor visits, customers save up to 80% off on lab tests over retail prices. With these savings, DAT is the best option even for uninsured people, as a price for lab tests may be even lower than a co-pay for the same tests.
Reward policy
Discounted Labs also encourages its customers to use their services by using special reward policy. It allows patients to earn special points for each purchase on the site and then at checkout.
There is a special exchange rate for both currencies, so it is easy to calculate what amount of points will be added to another purchase on the web site. However, there are some limitations. A patient cannot use his points to pay for lab tests if he or she does not have a minimal number of points on their account.
After the minimal number of points accumulated, Discounted Labs customer has the option to use the points as an additional payment method. There is a limitation for using the points. After maximum points are accrued, no more points can be earned until the current number of points is redeemed.
Customers are free to manage their points through special customer account. The information about a current number of points, the minimum number needed to redeem points, maximum cap and history of point acquired, used or expired.
To ease the management of points and for a convenience of customers, special notifications about expiration date and the number of points available to redeem will be shown at the account.
Limitations
Unfortunately, direct access testing is restricted in states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire by the state law. It means that people in those states are not allowed to order and get testing done without doctor visit or requisition.
Another limitation caused by the lack of laboratories in Hawaii, Maine, and Vermont. However, customers are free to use services in any other state where laboratory sites are present and direct access testing is not restricted by the law.
