Service by EconoLabs
In addition to lots of laboratories, EconoLabs provide their customers with direct access testing (DAT) benefits. These benefits include unnecessity of doctor’s order (requisition) or appointment, deep discounts, secured and rapid lab results available online.
The main advance of DAT is the lowest price for lab testing. EconoLabs achieve it with large orders level across the United States and not accepting any kind of medical insurance. It allowed avoiding any negotiated prices from insurance companies and keeping them about 80% lower over clinic lab tests.
It makes services of EconoLabs the best option for people with high-deductible medical insurance plans, uninsured and those who have lab tests not covered. In some cases, direct access basis makes it possible to get a price that is even lower than a medical insurance plan co-pay.
EconoLabs mostly uses LabCorp facilities aside from other laboratories for specimen collection. With this approach, EconoLabs customers may choose among about 4,000 laboratories nationwide and use the most convenient location.
To get lab tests done, EconoLabs patient does not need a doctor visit to get a lab order (so-called “requisition form”). Instead of lab order from customer’s physician, EconoLabs will provide a customer with their own requisition form that contains ordered tests, patient, and medical director’s name. There is EconoLabs national account number and is recognized by over 4,000 laboratories.
After payment was done, the requisition form is emailed to the ordering party within a half an hour. EconoLabs says that if their patient needs it sooner, he or she can call them and ask them to place the order at the head of the line. However, orders placed after 10:00 PM will proceed only following morning.
When a patient receives the form, everything he/she needs to do is to go to the nearest lab location where specimen will be collected for the further testing. EconoLabs stated that there are no any additional fees, like a blood draw, service or facility fee.
Getting Lab Results
Rapid lab test results is another benefit of using the DAT. Unlike lab tests from clinic labs, direct-to-consumer testing allows a patient to receive the results within 2-3 days in most cases. Sometimes, however, lab testing may take up to several weeks depending on lab test complicity. For a convenience of EconoLabs customers, each test on the site has an information about turnaround time.
After all, tests are performed, the lab test results are sent directly to the customer or healthcare provider. The form and the person who will get the results can be chosen in the online order form on EconoLabs website.
EconoLabs is HIPAA compliant, which means that private and medical information is secured, confidential and cannot be shared with third parties without patient’s agreement. If patient wish to share this information with his or her healthcare provider or wish results to be sent only to the doctor, he or she needs to contact EconoLabs.
EconoLabs underline that their stuff is trained and will respect customer’s privacy, while services will still be not complicated and lab test prices low. According to the information on the website, every customer can get qualified assistance by calling (305) 350 – 9812.
Unfortunately, due to state regulations, direct access testing is not available in the states of New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maryland. It means that people who wish to use EconoLabs services have to move to another state for specimen collection and testing.
